The University Committee for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, in partnership with President Christopher Callahan, presents this series of dialogues designed to offer students an enriched co-curricular experience via participating in dialogues with influential citizen leaders from across the country. These dialogues will address the social, cultural and structural inequities in our society and help educate, engage and empower individuals to become transformative leaders in the fight for social justice.
Anti-Asian, Asian American and Pacific Islander hate crimes have spiked 150% in the U.S. since the pandemic began. To end hate speech and violence against the AAPI community, we must come together to understand the root causes of today's anti-AAPI racism and learn how we can intervene to stop the hate. We start with four key steps: communication, empathy, collaboration, and action.
We are many voices, yet One Pacific, in solidarity with our AAPI students, staff, faculty, and alumni community. Join our new Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity, Dr. Mary Wardell-Ghirarduzzi, to discuss the urgency of now, engage in transformative practices of empathy and healing for anti-racism, and commit to advocacy, education, and bystander intervention to end Anti-Asian hate and violence.
