Education on the Edge is sponsored by the Transformative Action in Education doctoral program and funded by the Harris Lecture Series Fund. The purpose of this speaker series is to engage in conversation with people who are pushing the boundaries, challenging the status quo and embody transformative leadership.
As the first gay Latina to serve on the Stockton City Council, as well as represent the 13th district, State Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman understands what it means to be a transformative leader. She will talk about how her identity has shaped her leadership, how she’s challenged the status quo, and what more still needs to be done.
The Transformative Action in Education doctoral program provides students the space to engage in this type of critical reflection, acknowledge that we sometimes perpetuate the very inequities we want to disrupt, and work in community to develop the skills to rebuild the system.
