Flute Masterclass

Join Professor Mathew Krejci for a series of master classes to prepare for the fall music ensemble auditions. Each of the three virtual sessions wil focus on different repertoire. You are encouraged to practice the music before joining the session. These master classes are open to all new and returning Pacific students and are part of the Conservatory's Summer Intermezzo Series.

Professor Krejci is Associate Professor of Practice in Flute and Chamber Music at Pacific. He is presently principal flute with the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chamber Music Society of Sacramento, and was formerly with the Sacramento Symphony.

May 26, 10 a.m.: “Fun with the Little Finger” - Pinkie Polka

June 29, 10 a.m.: “What Every Flutist Should Know” - Syrinx, the most famous solo flute piece, learned and performed in sections.

July 27, 10 a.m.: “Arranging for a Flute Choir” - Debussy's "Girl with the Flaxen Hair" for flute choir: 4 C flutes, 2 alto flutes in G, 1 bass flute in C treble clef. Prepare score and individual parts in Sibelius and MIDI. Each student will be assigned a short 4-6 measure section of the Debussy piano piece in arrangement for flute choir. Prof. Krejci will assemble the multiple scores and MIDI versions.
