"Garden Writing, Gardening Philosophies and the Robb Garden" with Dr. Patty A. Gray
Tuesday, February 19 at 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm
Janet Leigh Theatre
3601 Pacific Ave, Stockton, CA 95211
Patty Gray, Pacific Garden Program director, will talk about Pacific's Robb Garden. University of the Pacific has no agriculture or horticulture program, and yet it has an edible campus garden: the Ted & Chris Robb Garden. How did this come to be?
This lecture explores the history behind the Robb Garden and the fascinating genealogy of the gardening philosophies that inform the way it is tended. The story traces a pathway from biointensive gardening in Europe to organic gardening in California. Along the way, we explore some classics of garden writing and a growing revival of both edible gardening and literary garden writing that plays an important role in reconnecting people with the soil that sustains us.
