Don't miss this exciting opportunity to hear from one of the most successful entrepreneurs of the day, Kevin Lyman, creator and producer of the Vans Warped tour. He will speak about his experience creating the longest running touring music festival, and how he has used the festival as a platform to engage in community-building that respects, but also crosses, boundaries of age, gender identification, racial stereotypes and industry norms.

Over its 20-plus years of successful operation, Warped Tour has given more than 9 million young music fans, many of whom have felt outside mainstream cultural trends, a place to call home, to find a caring community of like-minded individuals and to bond over music and a shared interest in making their local community a better place for all.

The event is free and open to all Pacific students, staff, alumni, from all three campuses, plus students attending local high schools and colleges. Lyman’s visit is being sponsored by the Music Management and Media X programs with additional support through a grant from Pacific Arts & Lectures series.

About Kevin Lyman:
When not curating giant festivals, Lyman sits on the Board of Directors for San Diego’s Saint Archer Brewery, in which Miller/Coors recently purchased a majority stake. He also has his hand in the record industry as co-owner of LA-based indie label, Side One Dummy Records. New start ups that he is involved in include goodDYEyoung, with Paramore’s Hayley Williams, featuring vegan and cruelty-free semi-permanent hair dyes; Plus Ultra, a company focused on environmental sustainability by replacing the plastic toothbrush with bamboo products; and Villager Goods, a healthy lifestyle product line featuring organic, flavored coconut water targeting skaters, surfers and extreme athletes. Along with all these endeavors, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Lyman established the Unite the United Foundation, a nonprofit created to encourage fans, artists and industry leaders to come together through charitable contributions, events and volunteer efforts to work toward a positive change.
