Lessons of the Stockton Bankruptcy, by Robert Benedetti

This lecture will describe three lenses through which to view and evaluate Stockton’s bankruptcy. First, Stockton will be placed in the context of the political economy of two “world cities:” San Jose and San Francisco. Secondly, Stockton’s relationship with the State of California will be analyzed. Finally, Stockton’s political environment and its evolution since the mid-20th century will be explored.
