Faye Spanos Concert Hall
3511 Pacific Ave, Stockton, CA 95204

The New Hammer Concert Band (NHCB)—a 50-member ensemble of professional-level brass, woodwind, and percussion players from across the West—will present their annual Fall Concert.

The NHCB is under the leadership of Dr. Eric Hammer, longtime director of bands at Pacific. The elite group was formed a year ago and received national acclaim for their debut concert in 2016.

The program is a high energy, fast-paced show with visual and a wide variety of musical styles. Pieces include contemporary compositions by Frank Ticheli and Samuel Hazo, a transcription of Bach’s “Fantasia in G”, and a suite comprised of movements from the great band symphonies of Vitorrio Giannini, Phillip Sparke and James Barnes. Soloists include Steve Ernest on trumpet and singer Katherine Nash.

The band’s purpose is to provide support for school music programs (both financially and educationally); produce a professional level performance outlet for topflight musicians; and expand the development and public appreciation of the concert band as a cultural and positive social force in the greater Bay Area.

Tickets available at the Faye Spanos Concert Hall Box Office on concert day or from local high school band members and their directors. Reserve will call reservations at
