Pacific Jazz Ensemble

Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm

Faye Spanos Concert Hall
3511 Pacific Ave, Stockton, CA 95204

An evening of jazz music featuring Conservatory students directed by Patrick Langham. The Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Randy Sandoli, will feature a guest artist - Dee Daniels.

Dee Daniels’ musical career is as varied as her four-octave vocal range is thrilling. She is a unique talent who transcends musical borders when she brings her jazz styling, infused with gospel and blues flavoring, to the stage.

Pacific Jazz Ensemble is a big band in the tradition of Duke Ellington and Count Basie performing the classics but also embracing the music of contemporary composers and arrangers. The Ensemble has an impressive list of credentials having played at the Next Generation Jazz Festival in Monterey and at Reno Jazz Festival.

Besides traveling to schools and jazz festivals, members also have the opportunity to work with numerous guest artists and clinicians. Jazz masters in residence often spend a week as guest director of the PJE while giving clinics and master classes to both Brubeck Institute and Conservatory students. Conservatory alum Dave Brubeck and the Dave Brubeck Quartet were regular visitors during his lifetime.
