Pacific Jazz Ensemble

Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 7:30 pm

Faye Spanos Concert Hall
3511 Pacific Ave, Stockton, CA 95204

Pacific Jazz Ensemble will perform with Terell Stafford, acclaimed trumpet player based in New York. Stafford has been hailed as “one of the great players of our time, a fabulous trumpet player” by piano legend McCoy Tyner. Stafford is recognized as an incredibly gifted and versatile player combining a deep love of melody with his own brand of spirited and adventurous lyricism. Stafford’s exceptionally expressive and well defined musical talent allows him to dance in and around the rich trumpet tradition of his predecessors while making his own inroads.

Pacific Jazz Ensemble is a big band in the tradition of Duke Ellington and Count Basie. They perform the classics but also embrace the music of contemporary composers and arrangers. The Ensemble has an impressive list of credentials having performed at Jazz Festivals in Monterey, Reno Jazz Festival and with various prominent jazz musicians. They are directed by Patrick Langham, the Director of Jazz Studies at Pacific.
