Pacific Jazz Festival is an annual 2-day event, October 23-24, for jazz students, musicans and jazz music fans. The Conservatory of Music invites all interested for master classes and livestream performances with the conservatory faculty and our renowned guest-artists.
Patrick Langham Quintet, October 23 (live-streamed from Pacific campus in Stockton):
Saxophonist and Jazz educator Patrick Langham has been cited by Hrayr Attarian of All About Jazz as being “adept at playing blues, waltz, funk and fast paced bop with equal facility.” Currently serving as Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Studies at University of the Pacific, Langham is recognized for his versatility, sound, and storytelling lyricism.
Born in Cleveland Tennessee, Langham has performed at venues and major jazz festivals across the United States, Spain, Canada and Brazil. He has performed on recordings or in concert with artists such as Frank Morgan, Essiet Essiet, Donald Brown, Tom Harrell, Richie Goods, Lewis Nash, Bob Hurst, and others. His recordings as a leader include Grown Up Listening (2008) and Pocket Change (2015).
In 2017, Langham was awarded the California Music Educators Association Jazz Educator Award honoring excellence in jazz education and performance. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
