Study Abroad Scholarships for Critical Need Languages: Boren and CLS

Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America and the Middle East.  Boren offers $20,000 for 2 semesters of study abroad, with a summer "stand-alone" option for STEM students.

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is a fully funded study abroad program.  he program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains.
