President Pamela A. Eibeck will moderate a panel discussion featuring inspirational women leaders and discussing the factors impacting women's success in business, both past and present.
Edie Sparks, a scholar of the history of women in business and author of Boss Lady, a case study of three women--Tillie Lewis, Olive Ann Beech and Margaret Rudkin--who founded and led major manufacturing operations in the mid-20th century. Sparks is currently vice provost for undergraduate education at Pacific.
Dara Szyliowicz, an associate professor of management in the Eberhardt School of Business and an expert in entrepreneurship, organization theory and international studies. Szyliowicz studies how industries grow and firms compete in changing environments. She teaches courses in management at Pacific and serves on the Executive Committee of the entrepreneurship division of the Academy of Management.
Mari Baker, an experienced Silicon Valley entrepreneur and executive with over 20 years of senior roles at various companies, as well as involvement in the venture capital and start-up community. She is a cofounder of the Center for the Advancement of Women’s Leadership at Stanford. Her daughter is an incoming Pacific freshman.
Cyril Seligman, CEO and founder of EMMI, a medical insurance billing organization she established 30 years ago that now spans two states. Seligman is a force of nature in the Stockton community, serving on numerous boards. She is one of the five great women leaders that established and organize Advancing Women’s Leadership Forum to inspire young women to become leaders themselves.
